The Confederation of Indian Industry Western Region (CII WR) is organizing its Annual Regional Meeting on Wednesday, 10 March 2021 on digital platform. Coinciding with the annual meeting, a conference on ‘Regaining Growth: From Crisis to Opportunities’ is being organized as part of the public session.

Year 2020 turned out to be a year like none other. The rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic globally across countries unleashed a human health, economic and social crises of epic proportions. Consequently, the global economy is expected to have faced the worst ever recession since the World War II with an estimated 4.3% decline. India was not immune to this crisis and economic activities were disrupted for a period.  However, the country is now witnessing tapering new cases alongside the rollout of a massive vaccination programme, while maintaining a record low fatality rate. As a result of prudent macroeconomic management, a fiscal stimulus package of Rs 30 trillion and support to vulnerable sections of society, India returned to positive growth in third quarter and is expected to attain over 11% GDP growth in 2021

2021 is being seen as a year of hope and unfolding new opportunities.  Beside effective containment of the pandemic, India has undertaken several path-breaking and visionary initiatives in the recent past, including providing a major thrust to infrastructure creation and Atmanirbhar Bharat to promote “Make in India – Make for World”.   It is now time for India to prioritize creating an ecosystem that will help it achieve global economic leadership.  

With this backdrop, CII Western Region is organizing an online conference on “Regaining Growth: From Crisis to Opportunities”, coinciding with its Annual Meeting on 10 March 2021 from 1100-1500 hours. The conference will feature thought-provoking sessions with eminent thought leaders and experts deliberating and sharing their insights.
