ABOUT EVENT

India stands at a golden gate of opportunity in a post Covid world. With a strong domestic economy, global investors are eyeing India as a preferred destination, and we could stand to become the world’s manufacturing hub or at least pose a strong competition to China. Jack Welch said that ‘If you don’t have a competitive advantage, don’t compete’. It is our firm belief that India’s youth and demographic dividend can be the differentiating and competing factor if India makes big strides to be the next mover & shaker of the world economy.

With the advent of Industry 4.0 and an increasingly technological driven world; factories have become SMART, operation theatres have become artificially intelligent, and home appliances can manage themselves. Increasingly, business or work translates into an imperative to master digital skills and operate machinery/ equipment which is largely electronic. India’s workforce stands no option if they can’t master the requirements of getting skilled for the future. India’s competitive advantage will necessarily have to be a highly skilled workforce.

While the Government has taken significant steps to set up a skill training ecosystem, it is time when Industry actively collaborates and participates to create a new skilled workforce. Not only would this ensure that industry competitiveness is not only maintained but also enhanced. Indian Industry can then start developing its own manpower than can compete at international level.

The two major themes of the Summit are:

  1. Enhancing industry competitiveness through skilled workforce: Initiatives that have been undertaken and also chalk out the initiatives/steps that are required so as to enhance industry competitiveness at global levels.
  2. Catering to International placements: As India aims to supply skilled workforce globally and the industry moves towards 4.0, there is a need to develop higher and higher skilled manpower, we need to discuss ways and strategies to develop a clear cut skills pathway to develop manpower to meet the global requirements who can be places internationally.

The Summit will mark the convergence of top policy makers, industry, academia and think tanks to discuss successful case studies and well as strategies required.

Given the background, CII is organising the 9th CII Global Summit on Skill Development, to be held on Virtual Platform on 09 December 2020.

The Summit will witness participation of speakers both from International & Indian Governments, Domain Experts, Senior Industry Members, Think Tanks, Academicians and Multilateral Agencies.
